Stained Cordova: A Paradise Worth Saving

A boy standing above the piles of used materials in Day-as, Cordova, Cebu, while gazing at the seas now contaminated with oil from the wrecked passenger ship M/V St. Thomas Aquinas.

It hit Cordova really hard. Worst is, it hit its core, which is the sea. So long the years this town stood with the abundance of the sea. So long the years Cordovanhons from generations pass were able to survive with the blessing of the sea. Those years are now in folds when this unprecedented calamity occurred.

This is home. This is where I take refuge. This is where my inner self is rooted upon. And it is now stained. The stain is far worse than any upbringing that happened in here. This stain threatens Cordova, and the future on the line.

Yes, it is so good to hear that our place is being aired on a national broadcast, but definitely not because of this one. No, not this.

Now, let our feet be on the seas. Let our hands be stained with oil. Let every part of us be involved, be connected. Let us restore the grandeur of a paradise once taken by the product of inflicting ignorance.

We will not be contented just by watching our fellow Cordovanhons being aired on TV telling how this calamity made their lives in such a turmoil. We will not be contented by posts on Facebook telling how you care, how this problem be solved in time, and just find yourself sitting in a couch with face sticking on your computer monitor. We will not be contented just by murmuring and gossiping to neighbors about this "bad" news, how our seas are affected, how many bodies were found, how you ignorantly saw Cordova on T.V. That, is NOT enough.

We have the numbers. And THIS IS OUR SEA. WE are the protectors of it. It is in our bloodline, as Cordovanhons, to make the best efforts possible for its salvation. THIS is our PARADISE - our home, our root.

I'll be soaking my feet on this water. I will be helping. And I won't foolishly pose, or take pictures of me while I will be doing that.

I'll be happy if on these days nga nagaatubang ug dakong problema ang mga Cordovanhon, wala'y mag-post2 ug mga pictures nila nga nag-posing while nagcoastal clean-up, namunit ug mga stuff (kunuhay), nitabang sa oil spill. That said, is enough.

#PorkTanginaNyoPo: On Pork Barrel Scams and the Revolution

Let us revolt. Let the Kings, Queens, Royalties and all the oppressors fall down. They knew how to play the game. Let us show them how a good game really works. We take them down. We take them down really hard. Let us raise our middle fingers to them who stain the goodness of our motherland. They may have swords. They may have guns. But we have the number. Their bullets will run out. Their swords cannot take us all down. They are not Titans. They only hide their vulnerable selves in walls of fame, money, and power. This is revolution. Now.
